Luke Timothy Grimes, born on January 21, 1984, in Dayton, Ohio, is an American actor and musician. He is the son of Randy Grimes, a Pentecostal pastor, and Angie Barker. Grimes graduated from Dayton Christian High School in 2002 and later moved to New York City to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Grimes began his acting career with roles in films such as "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" (2006), "War Eagle, Arkansas" (2007), and "Assassination of a High School President" (2008). He gained wider recognition for his role as Ryan Lafferty in the ABC drama series "Brothers & Sisters" (2009-2010). He also appeared in the FX movie pilot "Outlaw Country" (2012) and the thriller "Taken 2" (2012).
In 2013, Grimes portrayed vampire James Kent in the HBO series "True Blood" but left the show after six episodes. He gained further acclaim for his role as Navy SEAL Marc Alan Lee in the film "American Sniper" (2014). Grimes is also known for playing Elliot Grey in the "Fifty Shades" film series (2015-2018).
Since 2018, Grimes has starred as Kayce Dutton in the Paramount Network drama series "Yellowstone," alongside Kevin Costner. In addition to his acting career, Grimes is also a musician. He released his self-titled debut album "Luke Grimes" in March 2024.
